Police: Off-Duty MTA Cop Accidentally Shot Gun, Injuring Himself and 3-Year-Old Son
Incident occurred at a home on Long Island Tuesday evening.

Police have released new details in the accidental shooting at a Long Island home Tuesday evening.
According to police, an off-duty Metropolitan Transportation Authority police officer accidentally discharged his gun and injured himself and his 3-year-old son at their Smithtown residence on Devon Lane shortly before 7 p.m. The boy underwent surgery to remove the bullet Tuesday night.
Fourth Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting.
