Neighborhood microfunding

Director of Communications Saleen Shah will present.

Prospect Park
The Prospect Park Alliance was founded in 1987 to restore and maintain Brooklyn’s largest park after a long period of deterioration and decline. President and Park Administrator Susan M. Better banks
New York’s fastest-growing credit union, Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union improves access to financial services in Bushwick and Bed-Stuy, neighborhoods long underserved by major banks. A nonprofit cooperative, it offers community members favorable terms and gives them a say in its decisions. Director of Member Services and Small Business Tax Counselor Rebecca Pear will speak.

Postindustrial cities

9pm- Bryan Wade
Genre: Singer/songwriter folk/pop/world
For fans of: Jeff Buckley, Elliot Smith, Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon

Colorful, mysterious, and outrageous sound stories. From graceful, haunting spirit music, born of Middle-Eastern, Latin, and American folk traditions; played with as few wires as possible on a semi-jazz guitar; songs written and played in the streets of England, deserts of Israel, porches of dead mill towns, and food trucks of Hop-Hipster Brooklyn. Bryan whispers like Jeff Buckley playing songs that John Prine wrote for Duke Ellington; shouts like The Police covering an album that Thelonious Monk wrote for Pixies.

“Wade is one of the most talented and distinctive musicians this town has seen….combining exuberant stage presence with solid songwriting and dead-on technical skills.” - Dan Cook, FREE TIMES

“Bryan’s vocals are second to none… His vocals really separate him from the rest of the crowd.” - Jay Matheson, Owner of JAM ROOM recording studios, CAROLINA REPORTER

“The sounds that Bryan can get out of a guitar and the way that he gets them is something to behold.” - Angelo Gianni of Treadmill Trackstar, FREE TIMES

10pm- Roenik
Genre: Indie rock with electronic elements
For fans of: Bright Eyes, Radiohead and Depeche Mode

Gothenburg, Sweden, sends you an indie rock band from a so very modern four on the floor electronic foundation, yet with it’s head held high in the melancholy and nostalgia of the Seventies and Eighties. With such elegance and total absence of friction that you don’t know whether you’re drumming the beat of the new or humming the tune of the old. The mix of the organic and electronic elements is what makes Roenik unique. After 15 years collaborating with different producers and artists (Yoad Nevo, Andreas Kleerup) the frontman Niels Nankler invites us to join their space saga “Stars” that was released in 2014.

”The debut Stars is likeable and genuine, includes tender feelings and perhaps even contributes to an occasional smile. It should get a well deserved place in the spotlight.”- http://gaffa.se/recension/84461

”Stars is an wonderful piece of art that is easy on the ears and beckons to be listen to time and time again.”- http://therockoffice.com/audio.html
