Neighborhood microfunding
One of the nation’s oldest microfunding organizations, Citizens Committee for New York City raises money from foundations, corporations, and individual donors, then awards it to projects that make neighborhoods greener, friendlier, and more resilient. Director of Communications Saleen Shah will present.

Prospect Park
The Prospect Park Alliance was founded in 1987 to restore and maintain Brooklyn’s largest park after a long period of deterioration and decline. President and Park Administrator Susan M. Donahue will discuss the nonprofit’s work preserving the natural environment, restoring historic design, and providing public programs and amenities for the park, which receives more than 10 million visits each year.

Better banks
New York’s fastest-growing credit union, Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union improves access to financial services in Bushwick and Bed-Stuy, neighborhoods long underserved by major banks. A nonprofit cooperative, it offers community members favorable terms and gives them a say in its decisions. Director of Member Services and Small Business Tax Counselor Rebecca Pear will speak.

Postindustrial cities
Being Here is a design and consulting practice with a special interest in the revitalization of postindustrial cities. Through holistic planning, environmental design, policy innovation, and public-sector partnerships, the recently formed practice seeks to catalyze new visions for distressed or shrinking cities that can spark ecological and social resilience. Denisha Williams and Jeff Byles will discuss their work.

The Rat Problem is a rock and roll trio from Brooklyn. We play original songs with sweet pop melodies, bitter lyrics, and elements of surf, early punk, and 90s alternative for extra flavor. Tonight’s set will be acoustic.
