The Second Hands + Jessie Kilguss + Joshua Garcia + Jason Ovelha @ The Way Station

8pm- The Second Hands
Genre:  Gritty Folk/Rock and Roll
For fans of:  The Felice Brothers, Gillian Welch, Bob Dylan, Guy-Girl harmonies

The Second Hands is an Independent modern folk duo comprised of singer-songwriters Geoff Schroeder and Laura Hoch.  Their rustic, gritty guitar parts sit well behind guy/girl vocals that harmonize and blend into one powerful third voice.   Their songwriting is raw, poetic, unique and never borrowing from clichés. Mr. Schroeder is often found behind an old drum kit with a guitar in hand playing both instruments at once.   Ms. Hoch’s multi-instrumental capabilities often include guitar, harmonica, tambourine and ukulele.  Since their start in 2010 as The Second Hands they have shared the stage with Larry Campbell, Amy Helm, Gordon Gano, Elvin Bishop and many others.  Laura was a vital member of the popular French band Herman Dune in the early-mid 2000’s.

9pm- Jessie Kilguss
Genre: Dark Americana
For fans of: Lucinda Williams, Aimee Mann, Emmylou Harris

Dark Americana songstress, Jessie Kilguss and her band perform songs from Kilguss' three original albums. A former actress, Jessie had the life changing experience that sealed her fate as a singer/songwriter when she appeared on London and Sydney stages with one of her favorite singers, Marianne Faithfull, in the Tom Waits musical “The Black Rider.”  It was during this production that Jessie realized that she wanted to be in charge of her creativity in a way that playing the same role for six months or more simply couldn’t provide.  Shortly after this tour ended, Jessie started writing songs.
Kilguss co-wrote her first two records with gold record award winning production team Super Buddha (Blondie, Rufus Wainright.) In August 2011, Jessie traveled to Ireland with her band, Radio Gold ( John Kengla, Rob Health & Jason Loughlin) to record The Sky Road at Grouse Lodge in rural Rosemount.
Jessie Kilguss: Vocals
Jason Loughlin: Guitar and vocals
John Kengla: bass
Rob Heath: Drums

“The Sky Road is redolent with that mix of good intentions and bad deeds that defines humanity, and mixes a strong sense of melody with a darkly disjointed compositional style that is both appealing and occasionally jarring.  The Sky Road offers songs of consistent quality spiked with flashes of brilliance, and it’s hard not to think that Jessie Kilguss and Radio Gold are just getting warmed up. – Wildy’s World

“Brooklyn singer Jessie Kilguss teamed up with Radio Gold, a rock trio that gives the songs on her new album The Sky Road a power boost. Lucinda Williams is one her musical heroes an it shows in tracks like 1O Stories High, Riverboat Gamblers and Tennessee.” - Here Comes the Flood

The Daily News: "Her songs are layered and lush, confessional and haunting…quite compelling."

Wildy’s World:”Don't be surprised if Nocturnal Drifter is looked back upon in certain circles as a seminal album of the Indie movement in the first decade of the twenty-first century…Don't miss out on this one.”
