The Way Station Music Festival Day 2: Charles Ellsworth and Shadow Puppet + Phil Gammage with Don Fiorino + Sour Bridges + Jon LaDeau + Out Of System Transfer + Nightmares of Nashville

7pm- Charles Ellsworth and Shadow Puppet
Genre: Americana

Charles Ellsworth is among the new breed of artists who define their own genre with his story told through music. Raised in the mountains of Northeastern Arizona, this close proximity to nature and open spaces is felt in his musical style and lyrics. As a fan of the old west, stories of simple justice and love are told in a fashion which brings to mind a campfire and hope for a better tomorrow. Often dark, his music is complex in the simplicity of each message he brings to life in song. Charles Ellsworth is the sage of his generation, channeling the voices and beliefs of a time not so long ago.

9pm- Sour Bridges (Austin, TX)
Genre: Americana
For fans of: Trampled by Turtles, The Byrds, Corn Meal

Sour Bridges plays Browngrass. It’s like bluegrass, just a lil dirtier. Hailing from Austin, TX  Sour Bridges’ sound is an infectious combination of Texas folk, Appalachian bluegrass, and old-time rock and roll. The five members of Sour Bridges bring a wide variety of character and instrumentation to the table with the harmonious blend of fiddle, banjo, mandolin, lovin’ and acoustic guitar. When you listen to Sour Bridges you imagine a down home party on the front porch while drinkin’ your favorite beer and talkin’ to your favorite gal. These are your songs too and Sour Bridges loves it when you sing along.

“This would be Americana gone wild. To top it all off, they’ve got some of the best vocal harmonies around.” -Laurie Gallardo 98.9 KUTX

“Proving they’re no one trick pony, the band moves from the rocking tracks of Catfish Charlie and J-Train right into Midwife Crisis, with a rich three-part harmony and a crying fiddle that’s reminiscent of Hank Sr’s ballads. With the wide variety the band throws at listeners, you will be hard pressed to pick a single favorite track.”  -TX Citizen

“Sour Bridges combine elements of folk, Americana, bluegrass, and rock n’ roll to conjure a sound reminiscent of rocking chairs on porches, the shade of an old oak tree, and simpler times.” – The Austinist

[...]An adept blues guitarist…distantly ominous[...]

The Deli Magazine
[...]At times, his voice recalls the George Harrison from ‘All Things Must Pass’, a rocker who still understands the roots of his sound.[...]

Lonesome Highway
[...]Jon LaDeau has a voice that is a distinctive enough presence, there are hints of a young Neil Young.
