'Alive On 25' Festival, Fireworks In Riverhead Wednesday Night

Kick off the July 4 holiday Wednesday night with the popular "Alive on 25" street festival and fireworks in downtown Riverhead.

RIVERHEAD, NY— Riverhead kicks off its popular "Alive on 25" free street festival on Main Street Wednesday night — and to add to the fun, the town's annual July 4 fireworks event is scheduled for the same night, too.

Riverhead's downtown "Alive on 25" event features eight stage of live music, local restaurants, street performers, food trucks, craft beer and wine, a classic car show, vendors, local art exhibitions at East End Arts and Arts in the Park, face painters and activities for the kids, making Riverhead the place to be as the fun unfolds.

This year's dates include July 3, July 18, August 1, and August 15 from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; a rain date has been scheduled for August 22.

The Riverhead Business Improvement District and Riverhead Town present the Independence Day fireworks event on the Peconic River on July 3, too; the fireworks take place at 9:15 p.m. at Grangebel Park.

In 2016, Riverhead and Patchogue municipalities worked together to present Riverhead's premiere "Alive on 25" event.

The Riverhead Business Improvement District approached the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce to discuss working together to create a similar event to their highly successful Alive After Five®, a release stated.

Alive after Five® has been integral in the revitalization and growth in Patchogue, many believe; some feel the two towns are "sister" municipalities.

The Riverhead Police Department announced road closures for Wednesday, July 3 beginning at 3:00 p.m. for the Alive on 25 and fireworks event. Main St. in Riverhead will be closed from Ostrander Ave. to Griffing Ave. Peconic Ave. will be closed from Main St. to the Rt. 24 traffic circle in Flanders.

The roads will remain closed for the duration of the event and should reopen after 10 p.m.; police ask that motorists use alternate roadways.
