Local Residents Recognized as SUNY Oneonta Alumni of Distinction Honorees
Congratulations to Richard Ambro and Mary Yarusso.

SUNY Oneonta recently recognized over 200 alumni as Alumni of Distinction honorees.
Among those recognized were two local residents:
- Richard Ambro of Wading River, New York State Supreme Court Justice for Suffolk County Supreme Court and a 1981 graduate of SUNY Oneonta.
- Mary Yarusso of Riverhead, Senior Economist for Bloomberg and a 1966 graduate of SUNY Oneonta.
In honor of the college’s 125th anniversary, the SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association established the Alumni of Distinction program to honor alumni who have distinguished themselves through their careers, their service to their communities and their commitment to the college.

The honorees were selected from nominations by faculty, staff and alumni, these individuals represent just a few of the thousands of alumni who contribute in countless ways to the college, to their communities and to their professions.
The 2014 Alumni of Distinction honorees were recognized at a ceremony on Sept. 5, 2014.

The 2015 reception will be held on Sept. 4, in conjunction with Red Day, the anniversary of the founding of the college.
