Police: Drunk Riverhead Man Crashes to Avoid Deer in Mattituck
The man was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for minor injuries.

A Riverhead man was arrested on a DWI charge and unlicensed operation after he was involved in a rollover accident along with two passengers on Friday night, according to Southold Town Police.
Robert McCarty, 27, was driving a 1999 Mercury suburban, south on Breakwater Road in Mattituck, when he swerved to avoid striking a deer that ran in front of him, police said.
The vehicle rolled over and wound up on its roof, police said.

McCarty was found to be intoxicated, according to police. He sustained minor injuries to his hands and was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Julian Harris, 23, of Riverhead, and Ryan McCarty, 25 of Brentwood, were both passengers in the vehicle, police said.

Ryan McCarty refused medical attention at the scene and Harris was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center but refused medical treatment once he arrived, police said.
