Police: Woman Faces Felony DWI Charge After Crashing With Her Son in Car
The woman and the child were hospitalized following Thursday afternoon crash.

A Calverton woman was drunk and under the influence of drugs when she crashed into a telephone pole on Thursday afternoon, sending her and her 9-year-old son to the hospital, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Shortly after noon the Riverhead Police Department received a report of a one-car accident on Middle Road in Calverton.
The car was traveling westbound on Middle Road when it hit a telephone pole, according to police.

The woman, Lynette McDonough, 38, who was driving, was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Town Ambulance corps to be treated for her injuries, according to police.
Her 9-year-old son, who was a passenger in the car, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Upon further investigation, McDonough was found to be intoxicated and under the influence of drugs, police said.
She was placed under arrest and transported to Riverhead Police Department for processing after being released from the hospital, police said.
She was charged with DWI (alcohol) and (drugs), a felony under Leandra’s Law, police said.
