Riverhead Store Burglarized Wednesday Morning

The East Main Street store was also robbed earlier this month.

Police are investigating a burglary that occurred on Tuesday morning at a Riverhead store that was also the scene of a robbery earlier this month, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police responded to Damaris Multi-Service at 725 East Main St. after the alarm was set off at about 1:39 a.m., police said.

The responding officer found the glass to the front door smashed in, police said.

An unknown person had removed assorted cellphones from a glass display counter and fled the area westbound, police said.

A Riverhead K-9 unit responded to the scene and initiated a track of the area but no one was found.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.

On Nov. 1, police responded to Damaris and were told by employees that a man entered the store, approached the employees and demanded cash while displaying a black handgun, police said.

The man then took an unknown amount of money from the cash register and fled the area on foot, police said.
