Police said he abducted his victim at gunpoint.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY — The Bronx man who police said crashed a car after abducting a woman was arraigned Tuesday on multiple charges.
Acting Westchester Count District Attorney James A. McCarty said Johuan Ramos, 28, pleaded not guilty to the following charges:
- Second-degree attempted murder, a felony
- Second-degree kidnapping, a felony
- First-degree assault, a felony

- Second-degree assault, a felony
McCarty said Ramos confronted the victim in the early morning hours of June 27, 2016, in the elevator of an Aqueduct Avenue building in the Bronx.

Police said he forced her at gunpoint into his back Chrysler 300 sedan and drove north on I-87 into Yonkers.
Ramos told the victim, according to investigators, that he intended to kill her and then kill himself, after which he punched her in the head.

As they approached the Yonkers Toll Plaza, the woman tried to unbuckle her seatbelt and get out of the car, police said.
Ramos drove through the toll plaza without paying and reached for the gun police said he had and pointed it at the woman.
McCarty said she took ahold of the steering wheel, in order to avoid being shot, and pulled the car to the right, causing it to crash.
Police said the car veered out of control while Ramos fired his gun four times. Three shots went through the windshield and another hit the steering wheel.
The woman tried to get the gun from Ramos, but he bit her arm, piercing the skin, police said.
Ramos left the victim in the car and ran into the woods near the Ardsley Rest Area.
After a nine-hour manhunt, he was found by police hiding in a shed in Hastings-on-Hudson.
As a result of the crash, the victim suffered a fractured rib that pierced her lung causing it to collapse.
She had two additional rib fractures, as well as multiple bruises and welts.
The woman was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of White Plains Hospital and discharged three days later.
Ramos remains in jail, with his next court date set for September 1, 2016.
If convicted, he faces a maximum of 25 years in state prison, the district attorney's office said.
