Dogwalker Arrested After Beating A Puppy And A Dog: SPCA Westchester
Warning: Video footage capturing the violence against the two animals in his care is extremely disturbing.

YONKERS, NY — A Westchester man who was caught on video viciously abusing two dogs in his care won't get the chance to hurt the animals again, according to law enforcement officials.
The SPCA Westchester announced on Wednesday that their Humane Law Enforcement Unit (HLE), under the direction of Ernest Lungaro and with the assistance of the Yonkers Police Department, arrested and charged Roger Andrews, of Yonkers, with two counts of animal cruelty.
Andrews was arrested on Monday after authorities obtained a video that showed him severely beating a male puppy named Champ and a female dog named Pretty Girl. The video shows Champ being whipped with a thick rope leash and screaming. According to the SPCA Westchester, additional footage of Andrews shows him kicking, punching and throwing Champ and Pretty Girl.

Andrews is not the owner of the dogs, and only had them in his possession temporarily to walk them for their owners.

"By some miracle, Champ and Pretty Girl did not sustain any serious injuries," SPCA Westchester CEO Shannon Laukhuf said. "We are so thankful that these innocent animals were seized by our HLE Unit before it was too late."

Andrews was held overnight for an open warrant on an unrelated case and was arraigned on Tuesday.
