New Rochelle Cop Could Face More Severe Charge in Death of Friend

Isaac Ward of Dobbs Ferry was killed in a car crash for which Harry Kyreakedes was accused of drunk driving.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — A more serious charge could be levied against the New Rochelle police officer who was accused of drunk driving that caused an accident that killed his friend Monday in White Plains.

Harry Kyreakedes, who is now on administrative leave and will likely be suspended from the New Rochelle Police Department, could face first-degree vehicular manslaughter if his blood-alcohol content is confirmed to be more than 0.18 percent, the Journal News said.

At the time of the crash, Kyreakedes' BAC was measured at 0.23 percent, which is nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent. He was initially charged with vehicular manslaughter.
