In the preliminary round of the Section 1 Sectionals, held at Felix/Festa Middle School in West Nyack on Nov. 7 and 9, the Ardsley/Hastings and Sleepy Hollow/Edgemont/Irvington girls swim teams faced their stiffest competition of the season, swimming against other schools from Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties.
"We could not have been prouder of our swimmers at Sectionals this year," said SHEDI Coach Lara Vivolo. "We brought 10 girls as a total from our three schools. On Monday night in prelims they swam exceptionally fast - taking off over three seconds in the 200 relay, qualifying second, and also qualifying for the State meet. We had four swimmers: Megan Gallagher, Caroline Mitchell, Katie Gardner and Kristy Wong swim in individual events at finals."
In addition, a number of SHEDI girls qualified for the State meet.

"Megan took second in both the 200 and 100 Freestyle races, qualifying for states in both the 200 and 100 Freestyle races," Vivolo continued. "Our 200 Freestyle relay, compried of Eilis Klein, Alexia Boumis, Caroline Mitchell, and Gallagher, dropped just a second to make he State cut time. This is the first time that SHEDI has ever sent 2 relays to the state meet, so we are all very excited and happy to see the girls ' hard work over the past two months pay off."

The opening event—the 200 Medley Relay—the SHEDI 200 Medley team finished 3rd, with a time of 1:52.52. The Ardsley/Hastings team finished in 1:59.84.
In the 200 Freestyle, Megan Gallagher of Irvington was 2nd, in 1:56.20, while the winner's time was 1:51.60.
Lena Trager of Hastings finished 5th in the 200 Individual Medley, timing in at 2:13.84, while that of the winner was 2:11.26. Caroline Mitchell of Irvington was 14th in the 50 Freestyle, with a clocking of 26.06, slightly more than 2 seconds off the winner's time.
In 1 Meter Diving, Niahm Klein of Edgemont was 21st, with a total of 391 points. The winner had 441.25.
In the 100 Butterfly, Kristi Wong of Edgemont placed 21st, clocked at 1:03.6, while the winner finished in 58.21.
Gallagher was 2nd in the 100 Freestyle, timed at 53.72; Alexia Boumis of Sleepy Hollow finished 18th.
Sleepy Hollow's Taylor McClung ended up 25th in the 500 Freestyle, clocked at 5:36.72..
The SHEDI team was 3rd in the 200 Freestyle Relay, with a time of 1:42.74, Ardsley Hastings finished 9th, in 1:46.56. Kristi wong was 16th in the 100 Backstroke, with a time of 1:03.35, while that of the winner was 57.40.
Katie Gardner of Irvington was 6th in the 100 Breaststroke, in 109.41, while Trager was right behind her, with a clocking of 1:09.51. The winner finished in 1:07.06.
The SHEDI 400 Relay quartet placed 10th, in 3:56.51, while Ardsley/Hastings was 15th, timed at 4:01.75 to the overall winners' 3:39.80

The Championship meet on the 9th produced the following results:
In the 200 Medley Relay, the SHEDI team finished third with a time of 152.52, Ardsley/Hastings was 15th, at 1:59.84, while the winning time was 1:51.60.
In the 200 Freestyle, Megan Gallagher was 2nd, in 1:56.20, while that of the winer was 1:53.61. Caroline Mitchell of Irvington was 14th in the 50 Freestyle, with a clocking of 26.06.
Lena Trager of Hastings finished 5th in the 200 Individual Medley clocking in at 2:13.84.

in 1:09.41 ,while Trager was 7th , in 1:09.51, and the winner finished in 1:07.06. The SHEDI 400 Relay quart placed 10th , in 3:56.51 , the Ardsley/Hastings team was 15th , in a tie with Bronxville, while the winner's clocking was 3:30.80.
