Mercy College women's basketball senior Talia Beaulieu has been named to the East Coast Conference Week 12 Player of the Week honor Roll. She averaged 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game this week, including a career-high 21-point output in the win over NYIT on Saturday.

Girls hoops

Irvington defeated host Hastings 70-37 and Dobbs Ferry overcame visiting Woodlands 58-45 Feb. 6.

College News From Dick Miller

Basketball

In his banner game of the year thus far, Parris Purcelle (Irv. '11) came off the bench and played 32 minutes of outstanding basketball on the 4th, as his Buffalo Bengals outlasted the Potsdam Bears, 88-79. He scored a 2nd high total of 20 points, on 7-18, 4-8, and 2-3, plus having 7 rebounds and 2 steals in the game. The team record is now 17-4.

FENCING:

At Brandeis, in an 8 team match, the N.Y.U. women's fencing team had a record of 4 wins and 2 losses, with freshman foil star Audra Fox (Ards. '11) showing the way, as she won 15 of her 18 bouts. The Violets defeated  Boston College, Brandeis, Haverford and M.I.T., while they lost to Brown and Penn. The team's record is now 10-12.

TRACK & FIELD:

At the New Balance track meet at the Armory,  Manhattan's Sarah Moore (Irv. '10) placed 3rd in the women's pole vault, with her best height reaching 11-03.75.

Running in the Sean McElligott track meet at home for Haverford, Nora Howe (H '10) finished 29th in the women's 1 mile race, with a clocking of 6:01.19. The meet was a non-scoring affair.
