Business Q&A: Roe’s Casa Dolce

If you come in for lunch at Roe’s Casa Dolce, the Sunrise Highway café and bakery, be sure to save room for dessert. Owner and head baker George Rivera brings thirty years of culinary experience to the café. Here we speak with Roe’s co-owner, Jennifer Rivera, about this sweet local shop.

Tell us a little bit about what you offer.

Roe’s Casa Dolce is a full-service bakery and café. We do everything from pastries and coffee for customers who come in to sit down to customized cakes for special occasions. Everything we offer is homemade daily. We serve breakfast and lunch in the café every day until 3 p.m.

What are your most popular menu items?

In terms of dessert, everyone loves our “Oh My God” cake, which is chocolate mouse with a ganache topping. Our wedding and special occasion cakes are also very popular. We can customize cakes to fit any taste. I always tell people to bring a picture in of what they like so we can mock up a cake based on that.

What sets Roe’s apart from other cafes?

My husband was one of the original bakers when the café opened five years ago, and we took over ownership about a year and a half ago. We’re so family-oriented here. We speak directly with the customers to find out what they want so that we can incorporate it into our offerings. 

Do you offer any incentives to attract new customers?

We have offered incentives in the past, but we’ve found that word has spread about our business more through word of mouth. Roe’s Casa Dolce is like a little hidden gem in RVC and we have a lot of regular customers who come in and then tell their friends about us.

What do you hope people take away from their experience at Roe’s?

We really want people to remember our customer service. We want everyone to have a good experience when they come in so that they come back again. But most of all, we want our customers to be satisfied with our delicious products.
