Police: Man Forged Pay Stub to Rent House
Baldwin man charged with identity theft Sunday, cops said.

A Baldwin man faces charges after he stole someone’s identity and forged employment documentation to rent a house, according to Nassau County Police.
Michael Rumph, 34, stole another man’s identity to create a phony pay stub to establish financial security to rent a house, cops said. Rumph also provided the renter with a forged letter from the victim’s employer, police said.

Detectives took Rumph into custody Sunday at 4:10 p.m. in his home.

Rumph was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, second-degree criminal impersonation, and third-degree identity theft. He was arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
