Student Represents Rockville Centre at Harvard, MIT Math Tourney

A South Side High School student represented Long Island with nine others at the Harvard/MIT Math Tournament.

Zachary Ryan joined other Long Island students on the team and took fourth place in the competition.

The annual tournament is one of the toughest in the country and brought together more than 800 contestants from the United States, China, Honduras, Canada, and more.

Ryan is part of the Institute of Creative Problem Solving for Gifted and Talented Students, a program for gifted and talented young students to experience creative problem solving.

Other competitors from the program included Talia Blum, of Plainview Old Bethpage JFK High School, Daniel Celic, of New Hyde Park Memorial High School, Mark Kong, of Roslyn High School, Stephen Kyranakis, of Smithtown West High School, Sam Latt, of Huntington High School, Nick Marmann, of Smithtown West High School, Miranda Nykolyn, of Huntington High School, Rachael Park, of Manhasset High School, and Kelly Gannon, of Sacred Heart Academy.
