Study: Rockville Centre is 4th 'Most Irish Place' in New York

The study conducted by NerdWallet was released on Monday.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, NerdWallet set out to find the ”most Irish place” in New York.

Pearl River in Rockland County landed the top spot, but the rest of the top-10 is filled with Long Island towns, including Rockville Centre at No. 4.

The rankings compiled by the personal finance website are based on the percentage of residents with Irish ancestry (towns with populations of fewer than 10,000 were not included in the study). In RVC, that figure is 36.9 percent.

Here’s what NerdWallet wrote about RVC:

The Rockville Centre St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a major local draw, so much so that concerns have grown over the years about post-parade safety and security. Residents banded together with police and business owners and worked out early closings and took other steps to discourage underage drinking. Today, visitors can choose from many Irish restaurants and shops — from Monaghan’s to Cannon’s Blackthorn, which features a unique Irish pub experience called the “snug,” the private booth that dates back to when women weren’t allowed in bars.

Long Island communities coming in Nos. 2-10: Sayville, Garden City, Rockville Centre, East Islip, Massapequa Park, Babylon, Floral Park, Miller Place and West Islip.
