A coastal flood watch is in effect from Saturday morning through late Saturday night.

The forecast is calling for 1.5 to 2 feet above astronomical tides Saturday morning and 2.5 to 3.5 feet above normal high tides Saturday night.

High tides Saturday for New Rochelle are around 10:42 a.m. and 5:23 p.m. For Rye Beach, they are around 10:38 a.m. and 5:14 p.m., according to Tide High and Low, Inc.

Saturday’s full moon is part of the problem as far as the possibility of coastal flooding.

A full moon means tides will be higher than usual, said an article by Tech Insider.

Combine that with substantial precipitation and high winds from the storm and the result could be severe flooding, depending on when the storm is at its most severe, Tech Insider said.

Impacts from the storm, according to the National Weather Service, are expected to include minor coastal flooding Saturday morning, minor to moderate coastal flooding Saturday night with more widespread flooding of vulnerable shore roads and properties.

There the possibility a coastal flood warning may be issued for Saturday night.

The weather service is advising coastal residents to be alert for later statement or warnings.
