Get Ready To Play: Playland Sets May 2026 Opening, As The Dragon Coaster Returns for 98th Season
Playland Park in Rye is preparing for its 98th season, with the return of the Dragon Coaster and traditional fireworks displays.

RYE, NY —Playland Park in Westchester County is scheduled to open for its 98th season in May 2026.
The park plans to welcome guests back with classic rides, including the Gondola Wheel and Grand Carousel. Kiddyland rides will also be available for visitors.
The preseason opening is set for Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17. The grand opening will then take place on Saturday, May 23. This year also marks the return of the Dragon Coaster, a genuine historic landmark at the park.

"Playland is one of Westchester's most cherished destinations and a place where many fond childhood memories are made," Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said. "As we welcome the 2026 season, I'm excited for visitors to experience everything Playland has to offer, including rides and games, treats, and Friday night fireworks. It is sure to be a memorable summer for all. I'll meet you at the Dragon Coaster."
Those Fourth of July fireworks will return this year, along with weekly Friday night fireworks.

"Playland is synonymous with summer in Westchester and has been a source of pride for our community for nearly a century," Parks Commissioner Kathy O'Connor said. "Opening the park every year is special, but this year guests will experience the full Playland tradition they know and love."
Following Memorial Day Weekend, from May 23 through May 25, the park will operate on a Wednesday through Sunday schedule for the remainder of the season, concluding on Labor Day, Monday, September 7. The park will also be open on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13.
The beach will open on a preseason basis starting Saturday, May 23, at 11 a.m. It will transition to a full-summer schedule with the pool on Friday, June 26, and will be open daily, weather permitting, through Labor Day. Parking will be $15 per car and $20 on holidays.
Park admission is free, and rider wristbands will be available for purchase.
