Rye City Council to Meet on Oct. 7 Regarding Local Issues (myrye.com) — Rye residents can weigh in as the City Council meets this Wednesday, Oct. 7, at City Hall to tackle e-bikes, FEMA's disaster denial, flood planning, traffic changes, and emergency leaf-blower rules. The agenda also previews park upgrades at Gagliardo, a seeding giveaway, Veterans Day plans, and future workshops on the comprehensive plan, downtown design, and flood resilience.

RéUnion Bakery & Coffee Entering Rye's Coffee Competition (ryerecord.com) — A major new café, RéUnion Bakery & Coffee, is opening this week on Purchase Street, instantly becoming downtown Rye's largest coffee spot and adding serious competition to an already crowded scene. Owner James Kim has transformed a former bank into a spacious hangout, even as another local café, La Petite Bretagne, has just closed amid Rye's intensifying "coffee wars."

Monsignor Dwyer Looks Back Fondly on Career at Church of Resurrection (ryerecord.com) — A beloved priest who led Rye's Church of the Resurrection for 15 years is reflecting on his retirement and the deep ties he formed with local families and students. He recalls guiding the parish through Hurricane Sandy, COVID-era moves to Rye, and countless community celebrations, and now looks back fondly on what he calls the city's "unique community" from his new home in Florida.

Hochul Signs Law Offering Rebates for Electric Mowers (myrye.com) — New York has created a rebate program to help landscaping companies statewide switch from gas to electric mowers and other equipment, and Rye businesses stand to benefit directly. The law dovetails with Rye City's yearlong ban on gas-powered leaf blowers, easing the financial hit for local contractors who now must replace older gear.
