Rye School District to Have Students Take Voluntary Drug, Alcohol Use Survey
Parents and guardian must opt out if they do not want their children to participate in the anonymous survey.

RYE, NY — The Rye City School District is asking students to voluntarily participate in an anonymous survey about drug and alcohol abuse.
In a letter to parents and guardians, interim Superintendent Brian D. Monahan said the district wants to better understand the risks students are facing regarding smoking, underage drinking, drug use and other high-risk behavior so that it can work with community-based organizations to tailor educational efforts to meet prevention needs.
“The survey data will also serve as a benchmarking tool, so we can see if and how attitudes towards drug and alcohol use change over time,” he wrote.
