
RYE, NY - Voters in the Rye City School District will be going to the polls Tuesday, May 17 to approve the budget for the 2016-17 school year.
The proposed budget is $85 million, up from the 2015-16 budget of $82.8.
That represents an increase of 2.63 percent, according to information in the district’s budget newsletter.

The estimated tax rate increase is 1 percent.

Besides the budget proposition, voters will also be asked to approve bonding up to $1.8 million to replace the 59-year-old furnace at the Osborn Elementary School which is no longer functioning.
Two seats are open and the candidates are incumbent Board President Katy Keohane Glassberg and Jennifer Boyle. The terms are for three years.
Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 pm. at the Rye Middle School Gymnasium, 3 Parsons St.
