Suspect Sought In Late-Night Attack On Teenage Girl At Rye Town Beach

The assault in which the teen was threatened with a knife shortly after midnight was interrupted by a security guard at the park.

RYE, NY — The Rye Police Department is currently investigating an assault which took place on Friday shortly after midnight at the Rye Town Park on Forest Avenue, between Dearborn and Oakland Beach Avenues.

The victim, a 16-year-old girl, reported being initially engaged in conversation with the suspect before being tackled and assaulted.

The suspect threatened the teen, saying that he was armed with a knife, although no weapon was displayed. The assault was interrupted by a security officer at the park.

The suspect is described as a tan-skinned man approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, wearing grey sweat pants, tan/brown canvas boat shoes and a black hooded sweatshirt/zip-up with the hood pulled over his head. The sweatshirt had the word "Blackbird Company" embroidered across the suspect’s left chest in white lettering. The suspect was last seen running on Oakland Beach Avenue toward Milton Road.

The Westchester County Police Department and the Westchester County District Attorney are assisting the Rye Police Department with the investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Rye Police Department at 914-967-1234.
