View Finder: RHS International Club Festival

Rye High School students, family, faculty and friends gathered last Thursday to continue the annual International Club Festival.

The world was brought to the cafeteria of Rye High School when the International Club sponsored the long-held annual tradition last Thursday.

Students of many different backgrounds and ethnicities came together to put on the night of cultural food, dance, music, and knowledge.

Students and Rye High School families brought home-cooked meals and treats that were just a delight. After trying the delicious food, kids went to the "Make Your Own Sushi" booth, learned how to make a paper crane origami, or learned about Germany. As fair goers soaked in the knowledge, they could treat themselves to some true Greek and Japanese juices from Astoria, Queens.

International Club President and RHS senior Misako Ono said, "Every year the festival gets more popular and this year was a great success. I was really happy to see that many people came - I think they got to experience and the world through all the different types of food, performances, and activities!"

The festival was complete with a special Irish Stepdancing performance by Rye's own Maura Lianne and Carine Leslie. Rye High School's student led a capella group Rhythm on Rye also performed original songs by member Erin Crotty.
