View Finder: Rye High School Performs 'Grease'

Check out the RHS Parson Street Player's production of the famed musical "Grease."

For the month of April, Rye High School became Rydell High School, as the Parson Street Players went to work on a production of the 1972 Broadway Musical "Grease." Just five weeks after the opening of the Parson Street Player's production of "Urinetown," the drama club hit another home run.

Directed by Peter Green and produced by Michael Limone, the students put on three productions of the show. The set was an authentic 1950s dream, thanks to George Krajca's set construction. After choreographing "Urinetown," Jimmy Locust returned to the RHS stage to choreograph "Grease."

The fun and upbeat musical starred Jenna Langbaum as Sandy Dumbrowski, James Rimmer as Kenickie, Connor Antico as Danny Zuco and Margaret Mulkerrin as Betty Rizzo. The cast was relatively small, roughly 20 students, but that did not make the production anything less than amazing. Opening night garnered a standing ovation from the packed house.

The crowd roared as the students sang and danced to such classics as "Grease Lightnin'," "Summer Lovin'" and "We Go Together." The students were lively and the wonderful acting seemed effortless.
