- Sachem Marching Band wins state title in New York State Field Band Competition. The 60 student-musicians were welcomed home on Tuesday from classmates, friends, family and school officials. See photos of the celebration in the link. (Sachem Patch)
- A Ronkonkoma man was identified as boater missing off Long Island. Police said 52-year-old Todd Mauro was last seen leaving South Shore Boat Yard in Patchogue around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Mauro's boat washed ashore Sunday evening on the beach at Smith Point County Park in Shirley. The U.S Coast Guard called off their search Monday night. (Sachem Patch)
- Truck carrying hot liquid asphalt overturned on Nichols Road early Thursday morning. The spill caused Nichols Road to be closed between the Expressway and Furrows Road while crews cleaned up the spill. The road was reopened at 11:45 a.m., seven hours after the crash. (Sachem Patch)
