5-Year-Old Girl Drowns in Backyard Pool
The tragedy occurred in Islip Saturday night, police say.
Police are investigating the drowning death of a 5-year-old Farmingville girl in Islip Saturday night.
According to police, Suffolk County Police Third Precinct officers responded to a home located at 51 Columbine Avenue in Islip at about 7:30 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a child was found unresponsive in the backyard pool.
The child, identified as Carissa Walker, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.

The drowning occurred during a block party, News 12 reported.
