92-Year-Old Cab Driver From W. Sayville Dies After Crashing Into Oakdale House
Man may have suffered a medical emergency prior to crash, police say.

A 92-year-old cab driver from West Sayville may have suffered a medical emergency before his taxi crashed into an Oakdale home Thursday morning, police said.
Joseph Saccente was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead, following the crash on Shore Road in Oakdale, police said.
According to police, Saccente was driving the cab, owned by Sayville-based Colonial Taxi, north on Shore Road when his vehicle left the road, drove across lawns of multiple homes and struck multiple mailboxes before crashing into the den of the home located at 168 Shore Road at about 7:10 a.m.

Preliminary investigation indicates Saccente may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, police said. There were people in the home at the time of the crash, but no one inside was injured, police said.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
