B-BP Students Tap Into Computer Programming

Students learn basic computer programming skills.

Celebrating computer science week, Bayport-Blue Point School District’s fourth-graders and James Wilson Young Middle School students learned basic computer programming skills as they participated in this year’s nationally recognized Hour of Code.

Working with their enrichment teacher, the elementary students completed various web-based assignments as they experienced computer science for one hour. They learned basic commands to create interactive games and had the opportunity to continue to learn about the subject from home by accessing their free, online student account.

In its second year participating in the event, all middle school students had the opportunity participate in the event by attending the webmasters club, visit the library during lunch periods or working on the initiative at home.
