Let’s Eat! Butera’s Restaurant Take-Out
Take-out dinner by Butera's Restaurant; a perfectly delicious end to a busy day.
It was one of those days that would not quit. Both Matt and I struggled to get home after a full day of work; well at least Matt did. I am on spring break this week and spent the day at in the city with my mom and sister at a fabulous production of Porgy and Bess. I got home after 6:00 and needed to take care of a few errands in town before starting dinner. Matt left a message that he was on the hunt for sprinkler system parts, boat paint, bone meal.... he'll be home later. My daughter, Sara, tagged along with me. By 7:30 we were finally done and heading for the Collins Ave parking lot. Dinner loomed. But wait! Butera’s Restaurant has a take-out menu! Sara and I strolled in and ordered a drink at the bar while we browsed the take out menu. The take out menu features just about everything on the regular menu. Being that we may be four for dinner and needed something for tomorrow's lunches, I selected family style size of eggplant parmesan, a mixed green salad with roasted asparagus and mushrooms, and a side of broccolli rabe. We had a pleasant conversation with the cute young bartender and friendly manager while we waited. Within a half hour the order was ready. It included a side of crusty bread (perfect for dipping) and oil and vinegar dressing for the salad. By the time we reached home the warm aromas bathed the inside of the car. We were famished! The salad greens were fresh and buttery. The roasted asparagus and mushrooms were perfectly prepared, lending just enough texture and seasoning to the salad. But the eggplant parmesan (my personal favorite)….. the sauce was light and flavorful complementing the taste and texture of the thinly slice eggplant. Broccolli rabe may not be to everyone's taste, but my family find that the bitterness fused with the flavorful olive oil and garlic to be an absolute treat. Butera's Restaurant does it right. Our very busy day ended with a delicious take out meal from Butera's Restaurant ; a deal when you can have a great dinner and a treat of a lunch the next day.
