Please join us at the library on Saturday, October 21 for The Great Give Back, “a community service initiative created by the Suffolk County Public Library Directors Association and the Suffolk County Cooperative Library System. The mission is to provide a day of opportunities for the patrons of Long Island libraries to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences.”
Starting Friday, October 20 through Sunday, October 22, Adult Services is collecting puppy food, wee-wee pads, dog beds, non-rawhide treats, wet and dry adult dog food, and wet and dry cat food. These supplies will be donated to Paws of War. On October 21 only, Children & Family Services is collecting new packages of baby diapers. These essentials will be donated to Angels of LI and distributed to families in need. The Learning Commons is collecting used cell phones. These cell phones will be donated to 911 Cellphone Bank, which erases the device and dispenses them to law enforcement and victims’ agencies to distribute to victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. Adult Services is collecting clean, gently used winter coats for persons of all ages. These coats will be donated to the Town of Islip Youth Bureau for distribution to those in need in our area.
