Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island
BREAKING: The threat of severe weather this weekend is increasing, the National Weather Service says.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island as the threat of severe weather this weekend is rising.
"Thunderstorms Saturday afternoon may approach severe limits with locally damaging straight line winds possible," the NWS said in the outlook.
Before we get the weekend, Friday will be very similar to Thursday, with sunny skies and temperatures topping out near 80 degrees across the island.

Here's the full forecast:
Thursday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 57. South wind 3 to 6 mph.

Friday- Sunny, with a high near 78. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Friday Night- Partly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 72. Southwest wind around 11 mph.
Saturday- A chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10am and 1pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Southwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday Night- A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then a chance of showers between 9pm and midnight. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 67. West wind 6 to 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 81.
Sunday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 65.
