Long Island Candlelight Vigils For Victims of Orlando Massacre to be Held Monday
Vigils planned as reports indicate the New York-born gunman pledged allegiance to ISIS before killing more than 50.

Long Islanders will come together in Bay Shore and Bellmore on Monday to remember the more than 50 people killed in the deadly mass shooting in U.S. history at an Orlando gay nightclub early Sunday morning.
The LGBT Network is organizing the Bay Shore vigil, which will be held at the Network's Center at Bay Shore located at 34 Park Avenue at 7 p.m.
"We stand in solidarity with our community and grieve for the victims and families affected by this horrific and senseless act of violence," the Network said on its "Long Island Pride" Facebook page.

A moment of silence for the victims of the shooting was held at a "Visibility Walk" organized by the LGBTQA+ Visibility Coalition in Sayville Sunday afternoon.
The shooting took place at Pulse Orlando Night Club & Ultra Lounge, where about 350 people were dancing and drinking around 2 a.m.
The suspect has been identified as Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, 29, from Port St. Lucie, Florida, according to U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson. Mateen was reportedly born in New York and is a U.S. citizen, but some of his family members are not. Grayson would not say where the family is from, but several media outlets have reported they are from Afghanistan.

FBI agent Ron Hopper told the media Sunday morning that the suspect "may have leanings toward extreme Islamic ideologies."
NBC News reported Mateen called 911 just before the shooting and swore allegiance to the head of the Islamic State.
On Long Island, the Nassau County Police Department said it was intensifying patrols around all areas of public gatherings and critical infrastructure. Authorities asked residents to call the police immediately if they observe anything threatening or suspicious.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the Suffolk County Police Department said there "are no immediate threats in our area at this time, however we are closely monitoring the situation and are on high alert."
The NYPD said there are no credible threats to New York City stemming from the Orlando shooting, but additional counterterrorism patrols have been deployed, particularly at LGBT facilities.
The shooting at Pulse took place during LGBT pride month, celebrated each year in June.
