Man Arrested After Knifepoint Robbery at Sayville Italian Ice Shop

The robbery occurred Friday night.

A 44-year-old West Sayville man was arrested soon after he robbed the Sayville Ralph’s Italian Ices Friday night, police said.

According to police, Scott Tangel entered Ralph’s, located at 153 Main Street, displayed a knife and demanded cash from a store employee at about 10:20 p.m.

The employee complied and Tangel fled on foot, police said.

A short time later, Fifth Squad detectives located Tangel at the Sayville Long Island Rail Road station and arrested him after he was identified by a witness, police said.

Tangel, of Rollstone Avenue, is charged with first degree robbery. He was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.
