Pedestrian Critically Injured in East Islip Hit-and-Run
Man is struck on Carleton Avenue early Saturday, police say.

Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and critically injured a man in East Islip early Saturday.
According to police, the man was crossing Carleton Avenue, a quarter-mile south of Sunrise Highway, at about 3:10 a.m. when he was hit by a southbound vehicle. The vehicle, described as possibly a pickup truck, fled in a southbound direction.
The man, who police did not identify, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was listed in critical condition.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information on the crash is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
