Sayville Historic Tractor Gets a Temporary New Home
The iconic equipment piece, now near the train station, will be at Islip Grange until November.

The iconic green tractor residing on a parcel across the street from the Sayville train station will be getting a new home, at least for the next several months, so that local youngsters can get a glimpse of farm equipment used in bygone days.

The Islip Town Board Tuesday approved an agreement with Every Child’s Dream, which runs the summer farmer’s market on Saturdays, to relocate the 1940 Oliver tractor to the new market site at Islip Grange on Broadway Avenue. The move is being made so that youngsters can have the opportunity to climb on the equipment and get a look at historic farming equipment.

The tractor will be relocated back to its original stead after November 17, according to the town agreement.
