Sayville Man Hit by Car in Oakdale Seriously Hurt

An 80-year-old Sayville man was seriously injured after being struck by a car in Oakdale Friday night, police said.

According to police, a 2007 Kia Sedona was heading westbound on Montauk Highway, near Dale Drive in Oakdale, when it struck Jesus Castro, who was walking in the roadway at about 10:20 p.m.

Castro was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via Suffolk County Police helicopter and is listed in serious condition. The driver of the Kia, 75-year-old John Finn, of Oakdale, was not injured.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552. No criminal charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
