Sayville Welcomes Butera's to Downtown
New Italian family-style restaurant comes to South Main Street.
Butera's Italian Restaurant opened its doors in Sayville on South Main Street last week and now occupies the space that was formerly home to Collins & Main, more recently CU29, which closed its doors in late August.
This is the fourth restaurant owned by the Butera family, with existing locations in Woodbury, Smithtown and Seaford. "We are hoping to have much success with this casual, neighborhood-style dining," said Gary Butera, co-owner.
The restaurant hosted friends and family on Oct. 4, and had a soft opening on Oct. 5. Restaurant-goers may see a familiar face managing the restaurant – former co-owner of Collins & Main Jerry Marlow is charged with the task. "We had a very successful evening with friends and family," Marlow said. "This week we are having a soft opening to get some of the kinks out. We already had a fan go out in the kitchen."

Marlow added that Sayville residents should be looking out for advertising and the announcement of the official opening within the next week. "Look out for local announcements and advertising," Marlow said. "This place will feature large portions to encourage sharing and an extensive wine list. The owners are also the chefs and they will be very involved in the business."
This is a family-run business. Three of the four owners, Martin Butera, his wife Laurie, Gary Butera and Nick Zografos, are also chefs. Martin Butera brings the experience of growing up in his father's pizzeria, Gary Butera trained at France's acclaimed Cordon Bleu and Zografos attended New York Restaurant School. The three orchestrate a menu featuring New Italian cuisine with Northern and Southern influence. For more information, visit www.buteras.com.
