• Suspicious Man in a Van, Woman Stuck in Elevator and a Small Fire in Edgewood (scarsdale10583.com) — Scarsdale residents get a detailed look at last week's police and fire activity, from DWI and unlicensed-driving arrests to a minor fire at Edgewood School and a child's encounter with a man in a white van. The blotter also covers identity-theft attempts, neighbor disputes, elevator and carbon-monoxide calls, and several routine roadway and lost-property incidents around the village.
   

• Scarsdale Schoolchildren Twice Approached By White Van Driven By Stranger: Police (patch.com) — Scarsdale parents are being urged to review stranger-safety rules after two students, in Fox Meadow and Greenacres, reported being approached by someone in a white van before and after school. Police are investigating, increasing patrols around arrival and dismissal times, and asking families to remind children to avoid unfamiliar vehicles and report suspicious encounters immediately.
   

• Scarsdale Action for Youth Awarded Federal Grant for Youth Substance Use Prevention (scarsdale10583.com) — Scarsdale families should know that Scarsdale Action for Youth just secured a second five-year, $625,000 federal Drug-Free Communities grant to support local substance-use prevention. The funding will back evidence-based programs, parent outreach, and student education, with new survey data showing teen substance use trending downward and a community presentation on results planned for November 9.
