Choking Prevention Class To Be Offered At Fox Meadow Elementary

Parents must sign a permission slip for their children to participate.

SCARSDALE, NY — Fifth-grade Fox Meadow Elementary School students will have the opportunity to learn how to prevent choking.

The voluntary program will be offered at lunch in a 30-minute class Thursday, March 30.

A Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corp member, who is an American Heart Association certified instructor, will be giving the class.

The students will learn the basics of choking safety including the Heimlich maneuver, how it works, and some choking preventive measures.

It is being run as a pilot program to see how well the children respond to the training, and if it goes well, the goal is to expand it to fourth-graders in the fall.
