- Mastic Beach resident and author Elizabeth Hughes Zayicek, will be at the MMS Public Library for a Talk Book Signing Event. She will feature her book "Lake Strife," on Sunday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. The book tells the story of a young girl, Carisa, that suffered abuse from her mother after the loss of her grandparents. Registration is required and can be done at the library website. (MMS Library)
- Town of Brookhaven announced the completion of two paving projects in Mastic and Mastic Beach. The first part of the project was to pave from Mastic Beach Road to Whittier Drive in Mastic Beach. The second project included the paving of Mastic Boulevard, Hawthorne Street, and Cumberland Street. (LI Advance)
- A Patchogue man was arrested on Sunday, Jan. 16, after a woman called 911 to report lewd behavior. The man identified as Jerry Sibony is accused of exposing himself on two separate occasions at the lobby of the Terry Apartments on Rider Avenue. The investigation is continuing, police are asking anyone who may also be a victim of Sibony to call at 631-854-8552. (Patchogue Patch)
