SHIRLEY, NY — After a night of protests in Shirley left two in handcuffs and a pregnant woman injured, a huge crowd of demonstrators turned out again Tuesday night.

Chanting "Shut it down," "Black lives matter," and "I don't see a riot," a crowd packed the streets. Portions of the Sunrise Highway in the Shirley area were closed due to the protest activity between exits 57 and 59. Just before 9 p.m., the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway reopened, with the eastbound lanes slated to open soon, police said.

As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, police said there were no injuries and no arrests related to the protest.
