Gunman Ties Up Workers, Customers at N. Lindenhurst Women's Clothing Store
The incident, similar in nature to at least five others on Long Island over the past few months, occurred Monday morning, police say.

Employees and customers at a women’s clothing store in North Lindenhurst were tied up during an armed robbery Monday morning, the latest in a string of similar incidents across Long Island over the past few months.
According to police, a man armed with a handgun entered Rainbow Shops, located at 660 N. Wellwood Avenue, at 10 a.m. and forced employees and customers to the rear of the store, restrained them, forced an employee to open the safe and then removed cash from the register drawers.
The man also robbed two of the customers of their cash and jewelry, police said.

The robber was described as a black, about 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall, with a thin to medium build. He was wearing a mask and a hooded sweatshirt, police said.
Suffolk County Pattern Crime Unit detectives are investigating the robbery. At least five similar robberies have occurred in Nassau and Suffolk since August.

A customer was treated for a right hand abrasion and chest discomfort following a robbery at a Mandee store in East Meadow on Oct. 5. No injuries were reported in the other robberies. No arrests have been made.

Nassau and Suffolk Crime Stoppers offer a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information regarding the robberies is asked to call anonymously to Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
