Police Make Arrest in Nesconset Bank Robbery
Man also accused of robbing an East Setauket bank earlier this year.
A Ridge man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with robbing banks in Nesconset and East Setauket earlier this year, police said.
Christopher Collins, 25, is charged with two counts of third degree robbery. He had been been under police surveillance prior to his arrest on Middle Country Road in Ridge at about 3:15 p.m., police said.
According to police, Collins robbed the Bank of America located at 15 Bennetts Road in East Setauket on Jan. 31 and the Capital One Bank located at 250 Smithtown Boulevard in Nesconset on Feb. 17. In both robberies, Collins presented a threatening note to the teller, police said.

Utilizing video surveillance and tips from members of the community, Pattern Crime Unit detectives identified the Collins as the suspect, police said. Collins is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
