Ronkonkoma-Based Retlif Testing Laboratories Receives Defense Security Service's Prestigious Cogswell Award
Ronkonkoma's Retlif Testing Laboratories is 1 of 40 out of 13,000 defense contractors to receive Defense Security Service's Cogswell Award.
Ronkonkoma, NY; August 26, 2014 - Ronkonkoma-headquartered Retlif Testing Laboratories, a globally recognized strategic compliance organization and one of the USA’s leading independent testing laboratories, has received the prestigious Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award from the Defense Security Service (DSS). Retlif is one of only 40 facilities from over 13,000 defense contractors to receive the honor.
Established in 1966, the Cogswell award recognizes industrial security excellence and outstanding achievement in matters related exclusively to a facility’s security program. It honors the late Air Force Colonel James S. Cogswell, the first Chief of Industrial Security within the Department of Defense.
Retlif President Walter Poggi commented, “The Cogswell award criteria focuses the establishment and maintenance of security programs that far exceed basic National Industrial Security Program requirements.”

Retlif Vice President William Hayes added, “The rigorous selection process includes having a minimum of two consecutive superior industrial security review ratings and demonstration of a sustained degree of excellence and innovation in overall security program management, implementation and oversight.”
Retlif Testing Laboratories, with headquarters in Ronkonkoma and an office in Bethpage, also has locations in New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Washington DC. Retlif is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2014.
