3 Hero Cops, EMTs Save Quiogue Man's Life Sunday

The life-saving team of angels administered CPR and helped the man, who had no pulse, police said.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY - Sometimes, there are miracles: The heroism and teamwork of three local police officers and a team of EMTs saved a Quiogue man's life on Sunday.

According to Southampton Town police, a call came in at 9:13 a.m. about an adult male unresponsive in Quiogue.

Southampton Town Police Officer Robert Brown, a 26-year veteran of the department, arrived to find the male victim, 42, not breathing and without a pulse, police said.

Officer Brown, along with Westhampton Beach Police Officer Mark Yakaboski, an eight-year veteran of the Westhampton Beach Police Department, began administering CPR to the victim, while Quogue Village Police Officer Daniel Bennett, a nine-year veteran of the police force, attached the AED to the victim, police said.

The officers continued their lifesaving efforts until Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance arrived and continued CPR; the patient was resuscitated and began breathing on his own and was transported by ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center for further treatment, police said.

Both town and village police officers are trained in CPR, as well as the AED, police said.

"The combined efforts of the police officers and ambulance staff ultimately saved the patient's life," a release stated.
