Bicyclist Airlifted After Struck by Hit and Run Driver: Police

BREAKING: The woman was struck Monday morning, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A woman was airlifted after being struck by a hit and run truck driver in Noyack Tuesday morning, police said.

According to Southampton Police Sgt. Joseph D'Arce, the woman was hit at 8:34 a.m. on Noyac Road near Ruggs Path.

She was in a line of 10 bicyclists, he said; when she was struck, she lost consciousness.

The woman was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police also said it might be possible that the driver of the truck, a black truck with sod, may not know he hit the woman, according to Newsday.
