Drunk Driver Crashes Into Utility Pole: Police

BREAKING: The woman was charged with a felony, police said.

FLANDERS, NY — A Hampton Bays woman drove drunk and crashed into a utility pole in Flanders Thursday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, a 911 call came in on Thursday at 3:10 p.m. about the single-car crash, which took place on Flanders Road near Pleasure Drive when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the pole.

Nancy A. Johnson, 62, of Hampton Bays, had been driving while intoxicated, police said. She was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where she was treated for minor injuries; she was arrested and charged with DWI, a felony, as well as several traffic infractions, police said.

Johnson was released from the hospital and held in police custody for morning arraignment, police said.
