Drunk Driver Slams Into Tree: Police

WATER MILL, NY — An East Hampton drunk driver was arrested after he slammed into a tree in Water Mill Sunday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, the incident took place at 9:01 p.m. on Water Mill Town Road in North Sea, when Jorge Meza, 33, struck a tree off the roadway and was found to be intoxicated.

Meza was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and failing to maintain his lane of travel, a traffic infraction, police said.

He was transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters for arrest processing and held for morning arraignment, police said.
